Trusting God and His Word

The word of God says, “yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.” (1 Corinthian 8:6)

One of the scriptures God gave me on my journey to trusting him was, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not to thine own understanding; in all thy way acknowledge him and he will direct your paths.”(Proverbs 3:5-6)

As many times as I have read and memorized this scripture, there are always new revelations. Upon sharing that scripture with you, I noticed a new thing regarding this scripture. The last part of this scripture says he will direct your paths, meaning more than one path. God is amazing. This means every path that I take. If I would just trust him and acknowledge him in everything; even in the things I do not understand, he will provide guidance.

God’s Holy Word

God’s Word aka the Sword is alive. The Bible says, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double edged sword. It penetrates, even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). The scripture says, “thy word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path”(Psalms 119:105).

A sure foundation that we can build our lives upon (2 Timothy 3:16). “The word of God has the power to convict us of sin. To teach us truth, and lead us into righteousness” (Psalm 119:9-11). Let us treasure the word of God by hiding it in our hearts so we might not sin against him.

Job says, I have treasured the word of his mouth more than my daily bread. (Job 23:12). Luke 11:28 says, Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it. John 17:17 says, Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. Psalm 119:160 says, The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever. The Bible says, the grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever (Isaiah 40:8). Matthew 24:35 says, Heaven and earth will pass away, but my word will not pass away.

By meditating on God’s word, we are transformed by its power (Romans 12:2). We become more Christlike and are better equipped to serve him. “Be diligent to present yourself approved by God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth”(Timothy 2:2-15). The Bible says, “So faith cometh by hearing, and hearing through the word of God”(Romans 10:17).

Whenever you need a word from the Lord; you can google scriptures on your specific topic. Once you have identified your topic begin to read and write down what God says about your situation. There is a scripture that speaks to every circumstance known to man. So do not be afraid to refer to God’s road map for biblical solutions.

Trusting God and His Faithfulness

Trusting God cannot be just a head knowledge of scriptures. It has to be a heart and spirit knowledge. When we meditate on his scriptures regarding trusting God and Faith it will build you up spiritually. Remember every time that God came through for you. Each experience will help you grow both your trust and faith in God. God wants us to trust him in all things.

There maybe many things that we are trusting God for. For example: A new job, Salvation of a family member or loved one, Finances, Healing, Restoration and Deliverance. Many times when our breakthrough takes longer than anticipated we begin to doubt God. But what does the Bible say about God’s ways of doing things. The Bible says, “One day with the Lord is a day is like a thousand years; and a thousand years are like a day.” (2 Peter 3:8)

“For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie; though it tarry, wait for it, because it will surely come, it will not tarry” (Habakkuk 2:3). Genesis 18:14 asks, “is anything to hard for the Lord”? God has so many ways and an unlimited amount of resources to deal our challenges. He is a sovereign God.

Many times it is hard to give up and be totally dependent on God. Somethings are easier to turn over to God than others. For example, you may be able to trust God completely for Finance but have an issue believing God for Deliverance.

I personally have known God to be: Faithful to his Word, A Provider, A Sustainer, A wonderful Counselor, A Comforter, A Healer, My Strong Tower and Refuge, A rock in a weary land, A Bridge over Trouble Waters, A light and An Advocate.

Isaiah 55: 8-9 says, For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Job 23:10 says, But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me I shall come forth as gold.

Proverbs 16:3 says, commit thy works unto the Lord and your plans will be established. 1 Peter 5:10 says, and the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

God is not a man that he should lie, neither the son of man, that he should repent; hath he said, and not do it? hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? (Numbers 23:19). Isaiah 55:11 says, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

One of the most powerful things that I discovered is using God’s word in Prayer. Below is a prayer I use when my trust in God is not where it needs to be. This prayer helps me when I am facing difficulties.

The Bible says, “When you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly”.(Matthew 6:6-7)

Trust in the Name of the Lord Prayer

I will exalt the Lord or our God! I will bow down low before his feet, for he is Holy (Psalms 99:1). Everyday I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable (Psalms 145).

Help me, o God, not to trust in chariots or horses(Psalms 20:7) but, to remember that apart from you I can do nothing (John 15:5). Help me not to lean on my own understanding, but acknowledge you (Proverbs 3:5-6). When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to that rock that is higher than I (Psalm 61:2).

“You have given me authority to trample over serpents and scorpions, and over all of the powers of the enemy and nothing shall harm me” (Luke 10:9). Daily, I will put on the whole armor of God to be able to stand against the schemes of the devil, and to be able to stand in the evil day (Ephesian 6:11 and 6:13).

Help me to gird my waist with truth, put on the breastplate of righteousness, shod my feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace and take up the shield of faith. By doing this I will be able to quench the fiery darts of the wicked one. Help me to daily put on the helmet of salvation; the sword of the spirit which is your word(Ephesian 6:14-17).

Lord, help me to be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication and thanksgiving I make my request known to you (Philippians 6:7). May I pray always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit; being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. (Ephesian 6:18).

You have given me authority that whatever I bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever I loose on earth will be loosed in heaven (Matthew 16:19). I can decree a thing and it shall be established; and your light shall shine upon my ways (Job 22:28). Life and death is in the power of my tongue (Proverbs 18:21). Father help me to use my words to speak life and uplift everyone; to be mindful of every word spoken.

I pray your kingdom come, your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10). Your word says, whatever I ask the Father in you name, you will give it to me (John 16:23). I thank you for hearing my prayer and moving on my behalf in the mighty name of Jesus Christ my Savior.

Amen,

I Speak Life, Peace and Blessing over the reader of this article, in Jesus Name!
